Peru quickly became one of the most memorable parts of my South American trip. I spent a total of 52 days there; first in October 2023, and again a few months later when I returned to Huaraz because I couldn’t get enough of the mountains. The country felt endlessly varied: surf towns on the coast, high-altitude treks in the Andes, colonial cities, desert dunes, and quiet local markets. Travelling by bus was simple, and the food was so good it became part of my daily excitement. More than anything, I remember the warmth of the people and how easily conversations turned into small moments of connection. In this section, I’ll share the experiences and practical insights that shaped my time in Peru. It's a country that proved how diverse and welcoming South America can be.
